Fed up with her coworkers who expect she will make coffee, clean dishes, and lead celebrations, Shibata declares she can no longer assume these responsibilities because she is pregnant. As her baby born of righteous indignation grows, Shibata revels in the freedoms of pregnancy and becomes increasingly invested in the charade. With incisive commentary and quick wit, Yagi offers a feminist cultural critique that is at once surreal and utterly relatable.
