At the Mountains of Madness
by H.P. Lovecraft
Oh, man. I tried. I really tried. I have heard of Lovecraft and wanted to read something. Even Edward Hermann reading it couldn't save this for me.
I read for character...and none of the characters here is anything but cardboard cutouts. I read for dialogue, and there is NONE! NO dialogue. No getting to know characters by their words.
All is description...cryptic and coy. "I saw something amazing, but I'm not going to tell you directly what it is.
Blech.
If this is not the one to fall in love with Lovecraft, what is??
