I loved this book. I knew it was going to be good before I even started to read it just from the way the book was designed. I know nothing about the Caraval series, and have never read those books. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a mystical and enchanting story to read. While the second book isn't out yet, it doesn't diminish the ability to love this book for what it is. The ending leads you to wanting more, that's for sure, but I don't think that it ends in a way that a person wouldn't be satisfied.
It's the type of book that has you covering the pages as you read so your eyes don't skip ahead. I also thought the plot had a good balance to where you could never quite tell where it was going to turn. If you had an idea as to where it was heading, something would happen and follow a different path. I appreciate the delicate carving of the plot and the little moments of foreshadow.
