Queenslayer by Sebastien de Castell

5.0

Speaking the truth might be the only real act of freedom left to me.

I'm starting to worry that Sebastien de Castell can do no wrong.

This is very concerning.

Kellen save the Queen, this installment was fantastic.

It took me over a month to finish this. Not because it wasn't amazing, just slumping, and since it's an audiobook, I wasn't driving as much as normal. I finally forced myself to sit and finish it, because the action was getting too good and interrupting it would've been torture.

There's always been a touch of trepidation with each Spellslinger book. I loved the first one so much, and each book is so very different from the last, it's never really clear if I'm going to lose interest partway through. And I haven't been let down yet.

Even with the long breaks between listening, each time the story sucks me back in. And I don't have a hard time remembering who the characters are, or what mortal peril we're dealing with at the moment.

Kellen is an absolutely amazing character. Reichis is still my favorite angry furry buddy, and we get to see a hint of the true heart beneath here. I love them both so much, and I'm genuinely sad that the next book is the last in the series.

I can't wait to see how it ends.
