Every Instagram post/tweet on black womanhood owes bell hooks money. This book is the genesis of current thought leadership on black womanism and black feminism. hooks captures all of her reflections in this book in the early 90s. at a time when only a few people had tackled this subject. We owe her a great debt for her foresight and the thorough way she nailed pervasive issues in the black mother/daughter dynamics, black girlfriend relationships, our relationships with our selves and careers.
