The Silent Wife
by Karin Slaughter
Nothing very original or compelling about this murder mystery. As the 10th book in a series, you really need to have read the other books to get the full understanding of the main characters' personalities and what happened to them in the past and how that affects them now, but you can piece it together enough - it's just not a complete picture. As for the mystery itself, it's pretty standard. There was probably too much forensic detail for my taste - it was overkill (pardon the expression) and sometimes just sort of gross and a bit gratuitous. I didn't really care about the main characters or any of their personal/emotional/romantic issues, but I finished the book solely to see "whodunnit." I have no interest in reading any of the other books in the series.
