Normal People by Sally Rooney

i kind of had to adjust to sally rooney’s writing style and it wasn’t my favorite because it seemed so bland — but also i think that made the big things stick out so much more.
at first i really had to force myself to get invested in this. i don’t like to pick up books without finishing them but i think the second half was a lot easier for me to get into.
i wasn’t a fan of all the time jumps and then backtracking to cover all the months that weren’t written about before. but overall i felt like a clown for completely bashing this book because it got to a point where the back and forth between connell and marianne kind of felt like a giant slap in the face (hahahaha lol). but even in the end, i still don’t entirely know where they stand or what’s between them and that kind of enrages me. when i flipped and realized i only had one chapter left i was like … wtf there’s no way this is ending well (and i guess it didn’t). but it did end better than i thought it would. i really thought it would end in them parting ways forever instead of temporarily (but i guess i’ll never actually know what came next) and becoming total strangers.
it kind of reminds me of love, rosie (one of my favorite movies
