Sapphic sci fi murder mystery! What's not to love?
The character work on Mossa is particularly good, I'm obsessed. I don't want to say why, you should experience it for yourself. And I adore how Pleiti responds to her--at once baffled and understanding her perfectly, irritated and tender and hopeful, and attuned to the possibility to change and try to be close again.
Also the plot was fast-paced, consistently fun, and surprisingly well-paced for a novella. So many shorter works aren't, but this one felt very natural and satisfying, didn't try for too much nor settle for too little. I can't wait to pick up the next two in this series.
