abarrera 's review for:
This Side of Paradise
by F. Scott Fitzgerald
An interesting book indeed. Quite a surprise to be honest. As Fitzgerald goes, it's rough around the edges. It's more a compendium of sketches than a fully formed book. That said, I can see how the book broke with all prior conventions, even if unintended. Some parts are better than others, but overall, it gives great insight into Fitzgerald's world. It resembles the same generational feeling we've seen with Millennials during these past years. A lost generation, expecting much, not receiving it, and then rebelling against a system that has no use for them. Highly recommendable book and very enjoyable, despite its faults.
