I cannot stop thinking about this book. I’m kind of wishing I didn’t read it so fast but I just COULD NOT stop. YA horror is one of my absolute favorite genres and Asian horror even more so. This was honestly one of my favorite books I’ve ever read in the horror genre at all.

I LOVED our bisexual art student main character. She was so real and one of the best main characters I’ve ever read. Isa Chang has to return home after her abusive father dies to collect her inheritance. She is from a super creepy small town called Slater, where her house is full of rats and she is always hearing a song from the mountains. It’s atmospheric and the vibes are so creepy and claustrophobic I had to sit my Kindle down a few times. Turns out, Slater has a bit of a history of teens dying, often by suicide, including two of Isa’s best friends. Her last best friend, Mason, is a medium and tells our girl that he believes there’s something causing these deaths and that he needs Isa’s help to figure out what exactly is going on.

Oh my goodness. I can’t even explain about how this book hooked me in. If you enjoy YA horror, even just a little, check this book out. I can’t wait to get a physical copy to add to my shelf. I will be reading more from this author, the writing was fabulous. I’d give this 10 stars if I could, but since I can’t.. 5 solid stars for this one. Thank you so much to Zando and Edelweiss+ for the ARC!
