Malagash
by Joey Comeau
What an enjoyable way to portray the terrible sickness and subsequent loss of your father. The deep relationships that were formed during Sunday's father's last stages of cancer were so touching. I loved her mother's scenes.
I was disappointed that there was almost no reference to the peninsula of Malagash, NS. Generally Canadian fiction is famous for describing its landscapes and community culture but this was only vaguely mentioned in the final chapter.
