The Racketeer by John Grisham
3.0

After The Firm, The Client, The Runaway Jury etc. one expects John Grisham's novels to wow you, this one didn't. So the setting of the story is - the protagonist, max, a lawyer, is in jail for a crime that he did not commit, he rats out on a ex fellow inmate so get freedom and make a quick buck. This ex fellow inmate is a low rank mafia because of which max is in protective custody. This is the first part of the story. What happens in the next part of the story confounds you - you start to question why the hell is this guy doing this suff. Isn't he supposed to lay low and enjoy the reward money or something? In the third part things start to get a little clear. The plan that Max hatched up to get out of prison is an excellent one but the story sadly is not that entertaining.
