Blázni a smrtelníci by Bernard Cornwell
4.0

Those who enjoyed Shakespeare at school or varsity will love this latest offering by Bernard Cornwell.

In 'Fools and Mortals' Cornwell turn his attention to Elizabethan England and the the rise in popularity of the theatre. The novel focuses on on Richard Shakespeare, an insignificant player in the more famous brother's troupe.

As Richard seeks to make a name for himself he is caught in the rivalry and drama of opposing theatres. Suspected by all including his own brother of treachery, Richard must not only win his brothers approval, but somehow secure his own future with a major part in the next production.

The final scene of Fools and Mortals climaxes with the staging of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', at a wedding, which brings the play to life in it's true historical setting.

As I put down this book down I and found myself wanting to read 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'Romeo and Juliet' all over again.
