Totally blown away! Was not impressed at all with Aira's "Ghosts" but this was awesome. Both hilarious and philosophical, with a great narrator and a tight sense of plotting, in spite of its own outrageousness and absurdity. Not totally satisfied with the ending, which felt somehow particularly implausible (though really, given what came before it, it really isn't). The correlation between literary translator and mad scientist is surprisingly strong...
