How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

2.0

It isn't easy to review this book. In some ways, it is insightful and is a great case study into what makes people tick and how to draw the best out of people, especially in one's capacity as a manager/leader. However, as highlighted by others, strictly following this advice will turn you into a 'yes-man', pandering to the whims and selfishness of others whilst being trodden all over. That is where I feel this book falls short - the lack of consideration over limitations to these 'laws' and situations where it might be best not to use them. It is useful advice on the whole, but one-dimensional and lacking critical thought.
