Countdown to Darkness by Mike Johnson, Roberto Orci, David Messina

3.0

As a part of the official graphic novel collection, this book is nicely bound and has some excellent notes about the stories it contains. The stories themselves, however, are not that great. Countdown serves as a lead-in to the Kelvin Universe Star Trek stories and bridges STTNG to KU. It relied a little too heavily on pulling in "guest stars" from the TNG crew which distracted from other elements. The Gold Key classic comic (as I'm sure will be the case with many of them) was terribly silly. A good slice of Star Trek comics history, but not a very good story. Two stars for the stories, one for the presentation. I look forward to book two which retells Harlan Ellison's version of City on the Edge of Forever.
