The Amazon Forward Collection, featuring six short stories from well-regarded sci-fi authors, has been a real blast. It might actually be my favorite Kindle Unlimited checkout to date. Unfortunately, You Have Arrived at Your Destination was just the weakest link in an otherwise very strong chain.
All of the stories in this series hit close enough to home while discussing technology just beyond our grasp. In this case, we're looking at genetic embryo engineering (already a thing) but using the profile of these embryos to view snapshots of their future lives.
This story started lovely and intriguing, then gradually turned into a drunken mess. I will avoid spoiler-y details, but please know, the character drives his mostly-autonomous Tesla drunk, and makes horribly impulsive decisions, including no fewer than 3 crimes??
Read the series, and skip this one. Or don't, so you appreciate the others that much more.
