I've reread this series many times and this is by far the weakest book. It's interesting with some novel ideas and concepts but far too philosophical and talk-heavy.
Unrelated to the quality of the actual book, this time through I listened to the audiobook - would NOT recommend. The worst audiobook I've ever listened to. The Hive Queen's "voice" was unbearable, and the Chinese accent the narrator took on to narrate Wang-mu's chapters was insensitive and, frankly, badly done. I was very disappointed.
