This was me after starting this book:

I needed this book. What a refreshing, wonderful read. I was in a slump before this but it got me right out of it.

This book is a YA sci fi novel, set in space, in the far future. It introduces us to Nemesis, a Diabolic created to protect one person and destroy anyone who could harm that person. In Nemesis's case, that person is Sidonia, a daughter of a Senator. The story really kicks off when Sidonia's dad pisses off the Emperor and Sidonia is summoned to the Emperor's galactic court, but they make Nemesis go in her place in disguise. Then a whole load of shit happens at court, Nemesis meets the Emperors nephew Tyrus, and the rest of the story would be a spoiler so that's as far as a synopsis I will give.

This story is incredible. I was enthralled throughout. I absolutely loved Nemesis, she's exactly the sort of badass female protagonist I love. I also really adored Tyrus. I like my love interests to be a little bit of a badboy,a little bit of a "not sure if they can be trusted" vibe going on (e.g Rhysand, Warner, Damon Salvatore etc.) I love it. The sci fi was interesting and complex enough to feel well done, but not over the top complicated that just confuses the reader. The actual plot flowed super well, and the pacing was great. I wasn't bored at all reading, and the ending? Just wow. It made me go and preorder book 2 straight away, and I can't wait to pick it up in less than 2 weeks! It ended in a way that it can be read and accepted as a standalone, as I believe it was originally meant to be, but for me, I need to know what happens next.
Anyone who enjoys YA Sci fi, pick up this book next. You won't be disappointed.
