Haven't They Grown by Sophie Hannah
2.0

This was very almost a one star, however I did keep listening just because I really did want to find out what was going on. So at least the book managed to hook me in a little bit.

Otherwise, this was book was pretty awful. I cannot say I enjoyed any of the characters, especially not the main character?! Beth is infuriating, extremely nosey and just not a realistic portrayal of a mother. So you are telling me a mother would take her child along with her on her stalking spree in the middle of her GCSEs? You're then telling me she just packed a bag and went to Florida to show up at Lewis Braid's work to try and get to the bottom of everything? Things kept happening that were so unrealistic and random.

The plot itself seems like it would be a good one, but Hannah manages to make the story quite dull and repetitive, constantly having Beth discover things based on one singular sentence someone mentioned in passing. Her obsession with the words 'lucky' and 'chimpy' were so TOUGH to keep reading about! I don't even think the plot twists in the end were worth it. The last chapters were wrapped up so quickly, we found out the truth and then that was immediately it. It all just felt a little bit ridiculous to be honest.

Not Good.
