David wasn’t the most likable narrator, and I think to some degree he knew that, so his honesty in his parenting/marriage mistakes were interesting to read.  I’m not sure if his honesty made me like him more, but it made I was grateful to have those details in the
Book. I also couldn’t help but think about the pressure that having a whole book/magazine audience know about your addiction could do to your psyche. Reading this about a decade later also provided me with some relief that Nic is doing well and possibly took some of the anxiety out of the read.

I did overall really enjoy this. I found it informative and captivating. I enjoyed the tangents about the history and science behind addiction, and I enjoyed the stories of his younger children. I think the writing was really well done, and the ending not as hopeful perfect as one would want, but that seems to be the truth of the matter. I feel weird giving it lower stars just because I dislike David for cheating on Vicki, so 4 stars it is.
