I wasn't entirely sure what to expect going into this one. It reads like a Something Wicked This Way Comes-esque story but as it was marketed (to me) as horror, I was disappointed with the level of creepy I got. Further, for most of the book I'd have been hard-pressed to tell you what the plot actually was. I mean, in retrospect, I guess it's obvious but at the time it was like weird carnival slice of life with a side of potentially creepy fantasy? Still, I don't regret the time I spend reading it, so there's that.
