Perhaps the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given. This book was beyond incredible—it’s actually hard for me to put together a cohesive review. This is not my usual genre, and was my first Kristin Hannah book. I really had no idea what to expect, but I’m so glad I took a chance on this.

I admittedly know next to nothing about the Vietnam War. Knowing that Hannah did extensive research for this book, it was incredible to read an amalgamation of women’s experiences from this era put together in one book from just a few characters perspectives. I cried quite literally the entire time. This book is so powerful, difficult, beautiful, heartbreaking, heartwarming, hopeful, special…I don’t have enough words for it. I love when women!!!!!!

Even if this isn’t your typical genre, I strongly recommend reading this book. And even more strongly recommend listening to the audiobook, which was so incredibly well done. I was sucked in the entire time. This absolutely will not be my last Hannah book.
