The Institution by Helen Sarah Fields
5.0
Once again I loved meeting with forensic profiler Connie and Baarda in this ultimate locked-room thriller. Add in a storm, a secluded hospital for the criminally insane and a kidnapped newborn and I was in my element.
The Institution was cleverly written, tense, well developed and grim at times. A brilliant thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat.
I particularly enjoyed the chapter focused on each "guest" of the high-security hospital as Connie got to know them and get inside their minds. There was plenty to keep her occupied and exploring; trying to work out who the despicable man was that could have performed such an atrocious act.
I really enjoyed this book, it had everything that I want from a good thriller - wonderfully evil characters, unpredictability, a tense, isolated and secluded location, and an atmospheric environment that felt almost claustrophobic.
Perfect!
