The Black Flamingo is amazing story about a biracial boys life into his adulthood and figuring out who he was. Michael was not happy at a young age that he did not receive a barbie for his birthday instead got a TMNT doll. When he gets into High School and he starts at an all boys high school and was not happy there. He then returns to a coed school where he meets Daisy who becomes his best friend. After his high school years is when Michael really comes into himself.  When he is off at college he gets introduced to Drag and a whole new community. Here is where he learns about himself and gets to have new experiences. The book is written in a beautiful poetic way. It tells a story from beginning to end.
