I utterly enjoyed this read. I've been a fan of Vo's writing since the first novella in the Singing Hills Cycle.
With this story she has given us layered characters in the form of a demon and an angel who slowly fall for each other after the destruction of a city. I like to read about established mythical or religious beings that have been taken out of the normal assigned characteristics. As Vitrine and her angel push and pull against each other, we see them interact and form an interesting relationship, one that evolves as Vitrine rebuilds her fallen home.
