Queen of Myth and Monsters by Scarlett St. Clair

2.0

Very disappointed **spoilers**

**SPOILERS**

Let’s start off with what I did like. I like the author’s writing style/prose. I like that we finally figured out how who the “traitor” was at the end.

What I didn’t like: (in no particular order)

•“I knew Killian had never lost his loyalty to me as his queen, but this was different. Of anyone in my circle, he was my friend, and he had shown that time and time again.”
What? She nearly treated him like crap in book 1 and talked so badly about him that I basically didn’t even like killian. He was controlling, etc? But now he’s fine? This makes approximately zero sense.

•Women can do no wrong vibes (I go on below) and borderline misandry. If you hate men, you’ll love this book, I guess. Author tries to write a world in which misogyny is a major factor. She succeeds- we see the misogyny at work starting in book 1. But then she takes it way overboard and writes a story that is sexist.

Men,” she said. “I am killing men.” I mean… this just highlights what I’ve pointed out above. Our antagonist is scorned BY MEN so I can’t disprove of her thought process and hating men in return. THAT is not a bad plot. But it’s taken so far across appropriate lines IMO. Read on!

“I knew the truth of this world, and the only way to survive as a woman with power was to use it.”
