I did like Elphaba and her wrestling with personhood and agency. She is super weird and she sucks and makes all the mistakes and I love her.
I also liked how the few Elphaba/Glinda scenes were pretty gay.
The fascism was pretty well written.
Both Turtle Heart and Dorothy are great minor characters.
That said, this book is way too long and too bizarre. There is so much weird sex in this, more than once involving children in some way. Also sexual assault that is not written about with care. There's religious debate and political debate and a lot of piss. There's a huge amount of characters and plenty of them just kind of die off screen. Kind of lacks plot in a weird way.
