We3 by Frank Quitely, Grant Morrison
3.0

A pet dog, A cat, and A rabbit used as prototype weapons just want to go home. They take their only chance to escape once they hear their program will be shut down and they will be terminated.
They see the world through innocent eyes while the world just wants to hunt them down and kill them; they do not entirely understand why. There is a place they know called "Home", but do not know where it is and they try to find it. They just want to live and they stop at nothing to travel together across the country to find what they are looking for, without being certain it even exists anymore.

If you have a pet, this story will hit extremely hard and there will likely be tears at the animal's monosyllabic speech patterns and their simple desire for peace, warmth, and love. It is one of Grant Morrison's more accessible stories as the art does the primary storytelling here because we are dealing with 3 animals who do not have the best ability at communication, but when they work as a team it is beautiful. This is a true love letter to animals and shows why they are important to us but also delves into the dark, depressing world of animal testing. Grant does not preach his beliefs and lets you form your own opinion from the stark lack of text. It is perhaps one of the best uses of the comics mediums where the images really, truly do the talking.
