Another Pig's End mystery romp, this time at Solstice. Bev is full up due to a freak snowstorm, and has to solve the mystery of which of her guests may be blackmailing her neighbors, the butchers, Ida and Vellora!

I loved the addition of child guests in the inn, the two boys added some whimsy to a few tense moments, and it made me smile. I enjoyed that the author dove more into their world building and magic system, and gave previously barely mentioned characters some 'screen time'. I have come to quite adore Ida, even though I found her wife a bit grating. The standout character in this installment was very much the bard Collin. He was a goofy bit of fun, if a bit dim witted. I also love that we keep getting small glimpses of Bev's background, in slowly appearing memories. Who is she? What has she done? How did she end up in Pig's End?

I am still annoyed by the town officials just dumping the work on Bev to solve town issues. That's what the queen pays you for Rustin!
