The Sea King by C.L. Wilson

Did not finish book. Stopped at 70%.
I was hesitant to read this sequel  since book 3 seems to be on indefinite hiatus, but I enjoyed book 1 so much, and there was a sale, so here we are. Before DNF status, this book was coasting at a solid 3 stars, and only because the world building is superb. I like the cast at best, and the plot was dragging for me - I feel like the author had the romance plot in her head before forgetting there was a whole other political/cultural conflict waiting to be resolved and she rushed to wrap things up.

Summer's been in a "conceal, don't feel" rut since she was a young child, and I just didn't vibe with her ice princess vibe when it came to just Dilys. She can have platonic, yet emotional, connections with other people, but Dilys continuously gets the cold shoulder. He's a better man than me, because one rejection would be enough.

DNF for now, I might finish when I have the emotional bandwidth. Stopped mid 3rd act because, unbeknownst to me, there's significant sexual assault to the main FMC and I feel like the reviews I've read barely mention it. I take responsibility for what I read will do a more thorough job to check all of my trigger/content warnings, I just want to boost this fact about the book.
