For the Duke's Eyes Only by Lenora Bell

3.0

I hadn't read any of Lenora Bell's work prior to this, so it was a nice venture into a new author. However, I'm not sure if I was spoiled by reading one of my favorite author's new books right before this or if it just wasn't quite my cup of tea.

Solid premise, fun tropes of Enemies to Lovers, Misunderstandings, Secret spies, all that jazz. But somehow, the characters failed to grab me and I really wanted to just smush their heads together and be like "Talk! For the love of pete! Just talk!"

Indy, the main female character is interesting, but she feels like a very obvious Indiana Jones reference. Raven, her counterpart, is the other half of that equation. They play off each other well and their arguments are amusing and believable. Maybe a side character as a foil or more of their families might have helped, but something in the mix was off.

However, its a fun book and a solid bathtub read. Just not one I will be keeping on the reread shelf.
