The God of Lost Words by A.J. Hackwith

3.0

Is it okay if I just pretend this was a duology?  Because this was going to be an all time fav series, I absolutely ADORED the first two. (Both 5stars)

I think it might be even worse that I was loving 'The God of Lost Words' until about half way through when things were happening that didn't make sense for the plot or the characters. Despite this I was still hopeful that the ending would bring all the chaos together but instead it ended very quickly leaving some plot points and character's stories in a weird place.

I can't bring myself to say that the second half was 'bad' (probably because I love these characters too much for that) as the basis of the idea was perfectly fine but the execution was off; it was somehow both wandering and abrupt in all the wrong places. We danced around some topics for so long that in trying to be so subtle with the details, but repeating the idea, it left them feeling overexplained, while other scenes that could have had a bigger emotional impact were rushed through: I knew the scenes were supposed to make me feel a certain way but I wasn't given the time to feel much of anything before the story was moved along.

Anyway, on a more positive note, Hero and Rami have my heart!
