The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey
2.0
The characterization was well done enough, I just didn't particularly like any of the characters. The plot was similar to Brat Farrar, but better done there. This book is very much of its time, with all its classism and sexism. Tey lost me when he has the solicitor rail that his client is too good for a life of "drudgery," and bemoans the tragedy of her being so ruined financially by her plight that she will never be able to afford a maid. Gah.
I can't say this wasn't well written, it just wasn't to my taste.
