Honestly very disappointing with all of the hype I have heard about it! It was good, sure, but Donna LOVES to write and write and write and not say much of anything. I am a lover of flowery language, but it wasn’t that her writing was in any way extraordinarily good, just too detailed without much plot. It kinda sucked to get so invested in such a long book and then basically have it fall flat to the point where I googled how it ended and skimmed the rest. I really don’t think I liked any of the characters, maybe Julian, but not really. Maybe that’s the point of this book, to leave it feeling hopeless and bleak, to make even a topic such as murder seem kinda boring? But it didn’t feel intended it just felt... boring.
