I couldn't help but think of Asimov's robot series while reading this book. The scope of the stories, some of the themes and wiring style are very similar. But unlike Asimov's series, City is a much more pessimistic book, more online with Bish's Cities in Flight.

I highly recommend for fans of Golden Age sci-fi and fans of Asimov.
