Wildfire by Hannah Grace
5.0
★★★★.75 rounded up!
This was the book I heard a lot about when it first came out, so I decided to read Icebreaker before starting it. Can I just say I am in love with the Maple Hills series? I loved the characters in Icebreaker and seeing them make cameos in Wildfire just made me feel so happy.
I would take a bullet and many more for Russ and Aurora. They both have been through so much and I love their character development in this book. Hannah Grace took an emotional and deeper turn for Wildfire and I love her for that. When I sit and think about the main characters' hardships and insecurities, I can't help but feel sad and happy at the same time. They saw themselves in each other and when it got hard they didn't give up.
There was less spice in this book than in Icebreaker, but that's okay because Hannah Grace compensates with a beautiful, intimate, and emotional narrative that had me tearing up at times, especially because of how much I related to Aurora. I've never felt so seen by a book before.
Hannah Grace knows how to write a mean epilogue too! And she does an outstanding job setting up the story for future Maple Hills books. I hope Henry gets a book real soon!
"Who cares about basketball when hockey players exist?"
"And you're a living reminder of the good things that can happen when I let myself be happy."
