The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi

2.0

The concept was pretty cool, outside the "bad guy" I didn't really remember or care about any of the characters. As a quick summer read it is okay but it is not something I would recommend to others expecting something. If this was any longer I think it would have been too long. I could see the concept being used again, but I just felt no stakes for anything in this book. And the few references to other pop culture just felt out of place and awkward to me.

I do plan on giving Old Man's War a try at some point. I am more excited for the book that Scalzi was referencing in the afterword.
