A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna

slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? Yes
  • Loveable characters? Yes

3.5

I am probably going to be an outlier here and just say that I really was unsatisfied with the ending. That ending? I…anyways. Mandanna, to me, is the queen of writing found family that feels so visceral. It makes you feel like you are part of the family that she’s cultivating right before your eyes.

I genuinely loved all of the characters work. It was funny, charming, and sweet. It was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and because of this ending? I feel so disappointed. Why couldn't Sera have it all? She deserves it all. I get it, sacrificing things for the ones that you love and yadda yadda but there’s so much creative license here to do whatever you want.

Anyways, I still recommend people read this.
