The Dragon of Sedona by Genevieve Jack
4.0
Exciting, intriguing, steamy and suspenseful
I really enjoyed Maiara and Alexander’s fated mates romantic suspense tale with a side of death and magic. It was well written with witty dialogue, three dimensional characters and a fairly engaging plot line. The flow of this book was different than the others in the series, at least in the beginning. It started out as a series of scenes centuries apart, switching back and forth from the present day to when Maiara first met Alexander more than 300 years ago. I was not a fan of this type of pacing, it disrupted the story flow for me. I would have preferred the backstory in a large chunk. The flow was wonderful once the story was mostly in one timeline. Alexander is an artist and a dragon shifter hiding here from Paragon, another realm. Alexander found his fated mate, Maiara, 300 years ago but after she died, he has been barely living. Now that he is reunited with some of his siblings, there is a chance to get Maiara back. The book includes one of the evil actors from previous books along with the siblings and mates we’ve previously met. It’s an epic fantasy with all the suspense and swoons coupled with all the feels. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, fated mates, steamy encounters, sweet moments, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, political intrigue, plot twists, and laughs. While this book could be read as a stand alone, to get the most enjoyment out of the overarching story arc in the series, it’s best to read the books in order as the MCs from the previous books play a large role each story and each book ends with unresolved issues. I am excited to read the next book in the series.
