Ok ok ok, I’m happy to take the massive hypocrite label here because as an absolute petty hater of the surprise pregnancy trope I am as shocked as you when I say I LOVED THIS BOOK.

Ugh. For so many reasons too! A little TMI context, I had a flop marriage in my early twenties that left me feeling unlovable and like I’d never find anyone else who’d have me. I also had a ‘fuck it’ moment and just met up with a guy from Tinder and didn’t think about tomorrow - he’s now Mr The.Reader. I’ve also had a kid and due to my baby daddy having epilepsy he can’t do nights so I’ve been there on the lonely nights for months on end with just you, baby and the tears.

This just felt like it was on a different level to the other books in this series. Winter is amazing, she’s got the Nestas about her that she’s kind of a dick and I really wasn’t looking forward to reading her book but now she is my favourite. Her insecurities, her doubts and fears, her problematic reactions of anger and coldness, it’s just all added up to a really authentic feeling character arc.

This is a plot I’ve never come across before and I just loved it. Usually the story ends with the wedding or the engagement and I loved seeing someone down the line, coming out of a marriage and then being an actual, believable Mum who is figuring out who she is and what she wants after having a baby. Finally some 3D motherhood in a romance book IM HERE FOR IT.
