This was adorable. Shireen as a character is so easy to love and root for. She's very likeable and also flawed in ways that make you so eager to see where her story goes. i love the way fatphobia is handled in this book, being mentioned in realistic ways without being a big plot point or making the story a bummer. it's so nice to see stories about fat girls who are happy with their bodies. i also love how supportive Shireen's parents are of her, their relationship is very wholesome and i really liked all of Shireen's conversations with them. The one thing i don't love is that the romance felt underdeveloped. I liked a lot of the moments between Shireen and both of her love interest but i never felt truly invested in either potential relationship.
The more interesting parts of the book to me were the drama of the competition, and just Shireen as a character.
