You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi

2.0

This has Love Island levels of messiness, and I really despise it for that. Since reading Freshwater and The Death of Vivek Oji, Akwaeke Emezi has quickly skyrocketed into my favourite authors of all time list. This, however, felt like a complete departure from their usual style. The relationships and characters were shallow, the way they talked to each other was indescribably annoying, and the plot was silly. I thought that we would get a deeper look at Feyi's trauma from her previous relationship, but apparently her sexual misadventures are more central to the plot. Anyway, I'll accept that this book is written for a demographic that does not include me, and will leave it at that.
