I wish more time was spent exploring each of the secret societies because without that background info it just felt like they were rival college fraternity fighting for notoriety. That entire aspect of the book was a lot of tell and not show and the reader is just supposed to believe that a bunch of late teen and early 20 year olds are super powerful and feared. The conflict and "villain" that popped up in the last 10% was also very underdeveloped. The depth of the relationship between the "villain" and the main characters wasn't really highlighted so I don't think that reveal had much of an impact. The random chapters from the parents' pov threw me off a bit especially when they referenced things that happened in their own books.
