An American Story by Dare Coulter, Kwame Alexander

challenging dark emotional informative reflective sad tense medium-paced

5.0

Just when you think that The Undefeated is going to be Alexander's greatest masterpiece, he and Coulter produce this tour de force. It's a hard read. It's supposed to be a hard read. It's probably as raw and unflinching an account of slavery as you can put in a book for young children. If you've educated yourself about slavery, then you might not learn anything new, but you may feel it in a way you never have before.
