I overall really enjoyed this book and thought that it was really great! I found myself totally enthralled into the story, and despite having a busy day today, found myself finishing this entire book (from start to finish) today because I wanted to read it during every spare moment I had. The writing is beautiful, and even made me nearly tear up at times. Goodreads has been recommending this book to me for ages but I kept ignoring it thinking I wouldn't enjoy it. Well, suffice to say, I'm glad that I finally caved in and gave this book a shot.
I did find it a bit weird how Wil, a Native character, primarily just exists in the book tobe murdered and then have what happened to him be a primary motivating factor for Victoria's actions in the book. That feels like something that is played out just way too much. But reading the acknowledgments section of the book (which I like to do) and seeing how many Native people and organizations Shelley Read acknowledges as helping in the development of this book, I am reassured about that. Still, though, that particular point is why I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 stars.
I would definitely recommend this to others.
