I am new to homeschooling and thought I would enjoy this book more than I did, as it came recommended by fellow members of a Wild + Free group in my area. The Call of the Wild and Free is light on practical advice and heavy on generalizations and personal anecdotes, which are not a sufficient basis for one's homeschooling choices. Arment cites some great sources, but she does not seem to be offering any new ideas, or even presenting old ideas in a particularly appealing or unique way; I found a lot of her prose to be cliche. If this book is helpful and encouraging for some homeschooling parents, that's great, but I'll be turning elsewhere.
