Now, before I begin, let me make one thing clear: I am an unapologetic hater. The mere thought of defending this book makes my stomach turn. Alas, duty calls, and I find myself reluctantly stepping into the fray.

Let's not beat around the bush: Was it a literary masterpiece? Absolutely not. The writing left much to be desired, and a few more rounds of editing wouldn't have hurt.

But, against all odds, did I find myself shamelessly enjoying it? Regrettably, yes. In fact, I found it strangely compelling, to the point where I reluctantly succumbed to pre-ordering the "romance" edition of the second book from none other than Barnes & Noble. The two love interests had me kicking my feet like a fifth-grader in love. I must admit, books like this awaken my inner fanfic enthusiast and bring me an odd sort of joy.

So, despite my better judgment and inner turmoil, I must begrudgingly admit that this book managed to capture my attention and tickle my guilty pleasure.
