Geekerella by Ashley Poston

So far, I have read two versions of Cinderella retelling (is this book counted as a retelling?), the first one was Cinder by Marissa Meyer and the second was this book. And I have to say I LOVE them both!

The plot was pretty simple, not far from the original Cinderella, but the writing and the whole idea of the story is fresh. I can totally relate to the main character, being a fandom geek whom nobody could understand. And when we found a friend in that fandom, it feels like we just found a gold mine. It made me believe that fandom is a super-strong thing, and couldn't be belittled.

Geekerella gave me a sneak-peak to the daily life of a celebrity. Busy, hectic, a lot of moving. Even the fans could be tiring, just the same as the haters. This made me think a lot more before sending bad comments (which I never do, anyway) online.

And Sage! Damn, I have no idea on how to express my love for her. She's a real bomb! I wish to see more of her
Spoilerand also Cal, I can see she's growing into a better character. Their relationship is soo cute I can't
. I would love to have a friend like that.

This book is a mixture of bitter and sweet, but thank God the sweetness didn't make my teeth rot. Just the perfect amount--just what I like.

If I could, I would give Geekerella 11 stars.
