The Descent of Man by Grayson Perry

challenging funny hopeful reflective sad medium-paced

4.5

Had an interesting moment when I was reading this book on the train surrounded by young men on their way to a screening of the World Cup. Just felt like a perfect representation of positive and toxic masculinity: the comradery along with the unnecessary one-upping, the high energy and the voices they were clearly deepening to sound more masculine.
This was a fantastic read and did a great job of examining why masculinity needs to change, as well as how it can change.
